@stevnnhall
Stev’nn Hall’s artistic journey began in the countryside of rural Ontario, where he developed a passion for both painting and photography. He furthered his artistic pursuits by studying cinema at Concordia University in Montreal, where he experimented with directing short films. His experimental films garnered international attention, being showcased at the Pompidou Centre in Paris and the BFI in London. Transitioning to television production, Hall achieved recognition as an award-winning producer for major networks such as CTV and CHUM. Alongside his television career, he directed indie music videos and led a non-profit film co-op, reflecting his diverse creative interests.
Despite his success in television, Hall’s true calling remained rooted in the visual arts. Initially focusing on figurative work, he later expanded his practice to include mixed media landscapes, collage creations, and emotive portraits. Today, his work is showcased in galleries across Canada and the United States, inviting viewers to engage with his evolving visual narratives.
THE STORY:
Stev’nn Hall’s art is a compelling exploration of duality, merging luminous beauty with underlying struggle. His series “Duel Identities” vividly illustrates this theme, presenting figures in relational poses that symbolize inner tension and conflict. Hall’s diverse use of mixed media—spanning painting, collage, and photography—constructs fictive places and events that draw viewers into enigmatic narratives. Influenced by his early work in experimental filmmaking, his pieces often carry a narrative depth that evokes both magic and menace.
Hall’s art challenges viewers to explore their own complexities and transcend limitations. His constructed images are sensuous, dramatic, and dreamily alluring, designed as seductive puzzles that beckon toward personal insight. Through his creative practice, Hall invites a deeper engagement with the nuances of self-identity and transformation.
