14" x 44” banner
ink and acrylic on canvas, brass grommets

Ride the wave, go with the flow, embody the essence of water and how it continues to move freely unless it is met with opposition, and even then, it finds a way to move forward, push through and overcome whatever is in its path. When life throws unexpected disaster in your path, just remember to ride the wave. The waves always end at the shore, even if they start way out in the middle of the ocean. So stay focused, breathe deeply, and be prepared to ride the wave back to shore.

This banner was made as part of the Letting Go series which was originally created as a collection of prints. You can see the Relinquishing print in yellow here, or in blue here. The Letting Go series explores the juxtaposition behind the concept of letting go - that in order to "let go" in life, you must release the tight grasp you have. But that's not so easy. Usually, when it's time to let go, our instinct is to hold on tighter. To clench, to grasp, to crush. We try so hard to hold on to one thing that we're afraid of losing, even if it doesn't serve us, and we actually end up losing ourselves, our light and our power in the process. This mixed media piece of Indian ink and acrylic paint is all about the tension behind letting go of pain while holding onto yourself.

More info about this product:

This banner is made of 10oz cotton canvas and features brass grommets with cotton rope and a wood dowel for hanging. The banners are made out of off-cuts of canvas that were left over from large paintings, and all vary slightly in size.  The frayed edges will not continue to fray unless they are prompted by pulling strings. This banner is easy to ship because it rolls up into a compact size. If you purchase this banner you will be contacted by the artist for more information about pick-up options in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, or delivery/shipping information. Please note that the buyer is responsible for any shipping charges and/or for picking up the painting, but the artist will facilitate the process by obtaining quotes, packaging the product safely, and bringing it to a shipping centre at no extra cost. Please note that this banner is not ideal for hanging in a wet space or outdoors where there is a lot of humidity as the ink may run. Reach out to the artist directly through the Contact page for any inquiries regarding this piece.
