Mackenzie's art is known for its intricate, multi-layered imagery, achieved through pushing the boundaries of CMYK screen-printing. His installations often transform spaces into immersive environments, challenging viewers to reconsider their relationship with nature and each other. These pieces evoke a sense of wonder and interconnectedness, inviting reflection on the complexities of existence.

Beyond aesthetics, Mackenzie aims to inspire empathy and curiosity about the natural world. His installations serve as powerful reminders of the beauty and fragility of our planet, encouraging viewers to engage more deeply with their surroundings.

By pushing artistic and technical limits, Mackenzie Browning seeks to foster a deeper appreciation for the intricate tapestry of life, urging us all to pause, reflect, and marvel at the world around us. His work continues to inspire and provoke, bridging the gap between art and contemplation.

THE STORY:

In my triptych of screen-printed artworks titled "Rocky Realm," I delve into the mesmerizing presence of ethereal boulders discovered in both Ontario and Banff, Alberta. These natural formations, suspended in a celestial void, serve as symbolic reflections of the human experience—balancing the necessity of staying grounded in the present while embracing life with vitality.

Through the meticulous layering of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks—the fundamental components of the CMYK colour model—I capture the essence of these geological marvels. Each print in the triptych embodies the intricate process of screen-printing, where subtle variations in ink application and tonal depth create a visual harmony reminiscent of the rocks' organic textures and shapes.

The concept of "ethereal boulders" extends beyond their physical appearance, inviting viewers to contemplate their own existence within the cosmos. Just as these boulders refract light and colour, so too do they refract our perceptions of time and place, encouraging introspection on the transient nature of life and the significance of living with mindfulness and intention.

This series aims to evoke a sense of wonder and connection to the natural world, prompting viewers to ponder their own journey amidst the vastness of existence. By depicting these ethereal boulders in vibrant CMYK hues and subtle gradients, I invite the audience to explore themes of presence, grounding, and the profound beauty found in embracing each moment with grace and awareness.
