Ink print 2024
@inprintspirations
Paula Reid is a Hamilton based artist who makes hand printed original Tree Relief Prints . Each one captures the detail of the wood and story of inspiration seen through the eyes of the artist. Paula’s interest in ink prints was inspired by the work of Bryan Nash Gill.
The trees exhibited patterns and stories of climate, age, disease and the cycle of life. Detailed and fascinating. Nature in its wonderment . Each print has a mantra, putting into words what the experience means
THE STORY:
Every day of every month of every year, a tree is planted at the exact time someone is born. One was created on the day of your birth. Each tree is unique in its experiences, traumas and resiliency. Its years are marked by the rings, both summer and winter. We can tell if nourishment and sunlight were abundant. We are also witness to harsh environments and infestations of pests and diseases. Through all of this, the tree survives, thrives and provides. These prints are like no other on this earth, unique just as we are .
“Scream” Sugar maple
Sugar maple is an imposing tree. She towers above us, stoic in her existence. Yet despite her size, she is vulnerable.
"Strength is not in how we present to others. It is what we allow others to see. Scream... Someone will hear you “.
