acrylic on canvas, stretched on rustic homemade frame
Life feels better in the springtime! Spring is one of my favourite seasons - the anticipation of longer days, more sunshine, warmer temperatures. Watching the garden and the natural landscape transform from winter-mode to spring-mode is so exciting.
Admiring new bursts of color from budding flowers and shrubs and trees brings me joy, especially after a long winter of looking at unsaturated greys and beiges and muted tones. When I really think about it, it's the transition period from winter to summer that is exciting. Springtime is a reminder that even though the natural world appeared dead and desolate, it actually wasn't. The trees and plants were simply dormant and resting during the winter, honouring the cycle of life that comes with the seasons. A reminder that growth and rebirth often comes after rest and reflection, and while both seasons are important and beautiful in their own ways, there's just something about springtime that feels hopeful and exciting.
